The Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester is a specialized laboratory instrument designed to quantitatively evaluate the mechanical resistance of solid catalysts, adsorbents, and other granular materials against attrition and frictional wear. In modern petrochemical, refining, and chemical synthesis processes, catalyst durability directly impacts reactor pressure drop, fluidization efficiency, and overall operational costs. Our Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester simulates controlled pneumatic or mechanical stress conditions, providing reliable, repeatable data that enables R&D teams and plant operators to predict in-service catalyst lifespan with high confidence. By standardizing the testing procedure according to ASTM D5757 and similar international norms, this Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester eliminates human variability and ensures that every batch of catalyst meets strict quality benchmarks before entering production.

The core functionality of the Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester revolves around a precision-machined attrition tube, an integrated jet nozzle system, and a programmable electronic flow controller that maintains constant gas velocity across multiple test cycles. During operation, a weighed catalyst sample is subjected to high-velocity gas streams that cause particle-to-particle and particle-to-wall collisions. The fines generated are continuously elutriated and collected in a dedicated filter or sedimentation chamber, while the remaining coarse fraction is reweighed to calculate the abrasion index. Advanced models of the Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester feature touchscreen interfaces, automatic cycle sequencing, and real-time pressure monitoring, reducing operator intervention and improving test throughput. Optional accessories, such as humidity control modules and variable-temperature furnaces, extend the Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester’s applicability to hygroscopic or thermally sensitive materials, making it a versatile tool for both academic research and industrial QA/QC laboratories.

For catalyst manufacturers, refinery technical services, and third-party inspection agencies, investing in a high-performance Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester translates directly into fewer unexpected shutdowns, better reactor loading strategies, and enhanced product reputation. Our instrument is built from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, with quick-release clamps for easy cleaning and sample changeover. Calibration services and certified reference materials are available to maintain the Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester’s long-term accuracy. We also provide comprehensive validation protocols that align with ISO 9001 and internal corporate standards, ensuring that every Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester delivers consistent results across different operators and shifts. Whether you are optimizing a new zeolite formulation or qualifying a fresh supplier’s catalyst, our Catalyst Abrasion Index Tester gives you the quantitative edge to make data-driven decisions with full traceability.
